The world (or Japan, at least) really can't get enough of Persona 5. After the original game's release we've had an anime series, a manga, Joker DLC for Smash Bros, live shows, a dancing spin-off game, a crossover spin-off game for the 3DS, an upcoming beat-em-up spin-off game, and let's not forget the upcoming extended remake, Persona 5: Royal.
But now it's time for Persona 5 to finally step into the realm of live action with its own stage play, fittingly named Persona 5: The Stage. Stage plays based on anime and games are really popular in Japan, and plenty of series including Naruto, Sailor Moon, My Hero Academia and much, much more have taken to theaters with their own shows. This isn't even a first for the Persona series; Persona 3, Persona 4 and even Persona 4 Arena have each had multi-part stage plays.
The screenplay and direction will be done by Hidemori Nishimori and the story will loosely follow the game. Only Joker has been shown so far in full costume, but here are the confirmed cast so far alongside who they'll be playing:
Hiroki Ino as the Protagonist
Kouhei Shiota as Ryuji Sakamoto
Yuki Odera as Ann Takamaki
Koji Kominami as Yusuke Kitagawa
Kaoru Marimura as Sae Nijima
Nukanobu Taishu as Yuuki Mishima
Yu Saotome as Shiho Suzui
Shun Takagi as Sugeru Kamoshida
Yoshihide Sasaki as Goro Akechi
So, no Makoto, Morgana, Futaba, Haru, Igor or Caroline & Justine yet but if they don't appear in this stage play they'll probably be in the sequel, assuming it'll have a few like the previous Persona stage plays. I think the casting is pretty good and each actor looks like they'll be able to bring their character to life so it's unfortunate that I probably won't get to see it. But if you're in Osaka or Tokyo this December you'll have the chance to see the Phantom Thieves IRL.
What do you think of the casting? Has your waifu/husbando been confirmed? Would you watch a Persona 5 stage play? Drop your thoughts below!
