“Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more!”

So, Shakespeare probably didn’t intend this line, famously uttered by Henry V, to apply to anime conventions—but he’s dead and I’m on my way to another exciting adventure, so who cares what he intended?

Yes, that’s right, yours-truly has been accepted to yet another anime convention and I’m gearing up to bring all of that freshness direct and exclusively to you! This time, I’m venturing to San Jose, CA for Crunchyroll Expo. The elite anime streaming service is looking to capitalize on their success from last year when they debuted their first convention-style expo.

This year, CRX is chock full of special guests and events for attendees. From Bananya creator Akiyo Nagano, to a whole host of English voice actors from My Hero Academia and many points in between. The Crunchyroll gang are even rolling out the worldwide premiere of the dubbed version of “The Rising of the Shield Hero,” episode one, featuring special guests Kevin Penkin (Music Composer) and Junichiro Tamura (Producer).

CRX ’18 even features a very special Dragon Quest themed Maquerade, hosted by figure skating legend Johnny Weir, with special categories and prizes for the best Dragon Quest cosplay. Also featured is legendary voice actor Ryo Horikawa, who’s voiced legendary characters from classic series like Vegeta from Dragonball Z and Karasu from YuYu Hakusho, just to name a few.

The Crunchyroll team are also teasing some surprises for attendees, like a swimming pool filled with Bananya plushies and plenty of premieres. You can read more about what’s in store for CRX ’18 on their website here: https://crunchyrollexpo.com

The convention kicks into full gear this weekend, September 1-3 and I’ll be there to bring all the freshness your way. What would you love to hear more about? What are you excited to see? What do you want me to cover for your reading enjoyment? Comment with your thoughts and opinions, I’ll do my best to bring you all of the best of CRX ’18.

Until then, “once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more.”
