By Yung Namahage • 4 years ago

VN developers Lose announced at Comiket that their eroge VN Maitetsu is recieving an "original anime" spin-off.

Titled Rail Romanesque, the upcoming series will consist of five-minute shorts and will air on Tokyo MX. Hisayoshi Hirasawa (Netsuzou Trap -NTR-) is directing the show at studio Saetta, whille Takayuki Noguchi (Queen's Blade: Rebellion) is designing the characters.

Originally released in 2016, Maitetsu is set in a fictional version of Japan called Hinomoto. Railway travel is the most important form of transport in Hinomoto, and each train is bonded to a humanoid control module called a Railord. The protagonist, Sotetsu, is adopted by the Migita family and moves to the city of Ohitoyo after the death of his family in a rail accident. When he returns to his hometown, he wakes up a dormant loli Railord named Hachiroku, who teams up with her new owner to find her lost train and save his hometown from pollution.

A censored version of the game was ported to PS4 in Japan in 2018 under the name Maitetsu -pure station-, which is also set for a Switch release on January 16. It's also available on Steam in the west but without an (official) uncensoring patch.

The game is also getting a sequel called Maitetsu: Last Run, which is available for preorder on January 31 and releases in Japan on July 22.
