The premise of Death Stranding was oddly prophetic. A game about a lonely courier supporting a society of people that live isolated from one another after being stricken by a worldwide disaster? No one thought it'd be so relevant when it was first released.

But the game itself is pretty divisive, with people either hailing Kojima as the greatest video game writer of all time or dismissing him as a hack who's way past his prime and just wants to flex his celebrity friends. Whatever the case, there's no denying that Death Stranding is popular. And with anything popular comes people that want to make a quick buck by duping fans of the original.

From the studio that brought us Hentai Hell comes Anime Standing, a totally original title about a girl literally named Waifu. She carries boxes over a dark, hilly landscape while it rains, just like Norman Reedus but with jiggle physics. The packages don't have the same weight as they do in the original and the movement is generally smoother, making this less immersive and more of a generic walking sim. Plus there's no combat, no cutscenes, nothing to keep you invested other than the free nude mod and unlockable lewds.

It isn't much more than a simple surface level "parody" of Death Stranding, but honestly, that's what it sets out to be. if you're looking forward to the PC port of the real thing and haven't played it on PS4 I suppose this could work as a demo of sorts, so I'd recommend if you want a vague idea of how Death Stranding plays. Just make sure your expectations are as low as the price.
