From his frail high ground, Shimbori said that the Dead or Alive girls didn't need to be sexy, that fanservice was not any real service to Dead or Alive. When he called for fans to calm, he said that boob physics would be more restrained, and bust sizes would be toned down. He specifically mentioned that clothes would impact boob physics. Tighter clothes keep things in check after all. That's fair and realistic. It would even be an interesting mechanic if there wasn't some malice behind it. 

Now for damage control and laughter via hindsight. 

Boob physics are back! Back in all their glory! What was that about realism, Shimbori? That was Honoka wearing what looked like a tight t-shirt and sweater, with boob physics on point with no restriction in sight. I guess trying to take the space ships out of Star Trek didn't work? Also, spamming one button to show off combos, and in the process, show off some DOA waifu goodness. "1:06 the one hand and jerk technique" to quote a comment on the video.

Make no mistake, this is damage control. Shimbori was shaming the mainstay of a series that brought in huge amounts of revenue. You can't take the fanservice out of Dead or Alive, any more than you can take the space ships out of Star Trek. Dead or Alive is still a great fighting game with a fantastic backstory and plot, it's just also known for its sexy girls in skimpy attire. It's like taking the leg off a chair and trying to sit on it. You can still sit on it, it just won't be comfortable, and you could easily fall. Shimbori decided to put the leg back, because his fall would lead to lost earnings and likely a quick dismissal.
