Onechanbara Origin Hits the West Very Soon
By Yung Namahage • 3 years ago

It's been ages since Onechanbara Origin was announced, and even longer since the last game in the series was released. Fans were left clamoring for news about a western release of the latest game for over a year, but the good news we is won't to wait much longer to play it.

As the name suggests, Origin is a retelling of the first two games in the series. It follows the events of the original two PS2 games, which were released outside of Japan without the Onechanbara name, but it's far from just a straight remake. Origin shakes things up with a reinterpreted story, a brand new cel-shaded art direction and redesigned characters courtesy of series mainstay character designer Katsumi Enami.

And the combat looks better than ever! Even if Onechanbara is sometimes brushed off for being a D-tier Devil May Cry clone, Origin looks like it's elevated the familiar hack-n'-slash zombie slaying action to a whole new level. Combos, blood and babes galore, plus the choice to play subbed or dubbed. Here are a couple of new trailers to whet your appetite:

Onechanbara Origin is out in only a few weeks, on October 14, on PS4 and PC. Will you be getting your hands on it?  Are you a fan of the series? Have you played the original games, AKA Zombie Zone/Zombie Hunters? Let us know below!
