Onechanbara Origin Brings Back Busty Brawlers
By Yung Namahage • 4 years ago

D3 Publisher's Onechanbara series has always been overshadowed by Senran Kagura. Both are, at the core, Japanese hack-and-slash games about big breasted women with katanas slicing through hordes of enemies with a load of fanservice here and there, but the former has always looked like a campy bargain bin game from a previous console generation as opposed to the tried and true anime aesthetic of the latter. Five years after the release of the last game, Onechanbara Z2: Chaos, a new entry will be shaking things up.

Known as Onechanbara Origin, the new title will serve as a remake of the first two games in the series, and it features a new art direction that maintains the previous game's sense of style with a more animesque design that's certainly softer on the eyes. And while Senran Kagura always had the better characters & fanservice, Onechanbara has it beat when it comes to gameplay if nothing else, and the next title looks like it'll be just as stylish, if not moreso, with a new theme song by metal idol group Broken By The Scream. Take a look at the trailer here:

Onechanbara Origin will be released on December 5 in Japan on PS4. What do you think of its new aesthetic? Are you looking forward to it? Which do you prefer, Onechanbara or Senran Kagura? Let us know below!
