Not Even Yuri Can Save EX-ARM From Being Absolute Shit

In case you’re out of the loop, EX-ARM is the latest and greatest β€œCrunchyroll original” to roll off the ole block. Papa Crunchy did pretty good for themselves with Tower of God and God of Highschool but apparently the lack of god in the title has hurt them with Noblesse and now EX-ARM. The trailer for the project made quite a stir when it dropped for being uh, absolutely awful. The animation is definitely a step or six behind nearly every other 3D production that dropped in the past decade. Although it pains me to do so, I suppose I will link the trailer below in case you want to watch the trainwreck for yourself.

Make no mistake, I don’t dare give this anime even a minute of my time. I only know about a certain kiss scene that happened because people were talking about how awkward it looked. And it made me realize something: you know something is absolute shit when it has elements that you love, and yet you still don’t want to go near it in a five mile radius. I’m a yuri man. A connoisseur you see, and soon I’ll be completing my degree and becoming a professor. Normally when I see a yuri scene in anime I have to at least peep it out and see what the show is about. Even if something looks like a waste of time, yuri can convince me to give it a fighting chance or to keep watching an anime that I should probably just drop. However, this anime provides a shining example of something so terrible that even my yuri desiring monkey brain refuses to even check out.

Apparently the mob has already gone and voiced their opinion on this travesty of a production as the current MyAnimeList score is already down to a 2.25. Normally I’d be against submitting a review of a series after only the first two episodes have aired but uh in this case I’m down to make an exception. Some things are so far down the rabbit hole there’s virtually no chance of recovery. At this point the series would need to have the narrative of a bestselling epic that’s taught in schools across the world to even bring it back up to a 5/10. I guess sometimes you crunch the roll, and sometimes the roll crunches you.

Rest in pieces.

Okay everybody I think that’s as much time as I should spend writing about, and you reading about, this one of a kind anime. If you’ll excuse me I have to get back to doing literally anything else. Have you ever seen a series that had elements you liked, but was plagued by other awful shit? Do you think series that start this bad can ever make a recovery? Arm your EX and leave a comment below!

Good lord that screen shot. Like watching a bad mannequin kissing a dead fish.

Can't be worse than Star Wars Resistance.
But I'm not going to watch to find out.

Look at those dead, unfeeling eyes. Not even yuri can make that look good.

Of the Crunchyroll Originals you should check out "So I'm a Spider, So What?", it's kind of like a dark comedy version of "That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime", and it has an enjoyable main character. About the only downside is when it focuses on the boring human characters when you'd rather be watching the antics of our spider heroine.

It's absolute shit I couldn't even get past the opening music. Nothing could save that dumpster fire.

There can be recovery. As long as the creators learn from their mistakes in time for the following season or better still early on then yes, it can get better. The Yuri element might be this one's redeeming quality but as mentioned time will tell.

Speaking of Crunchy originals, you think High Guardian Spice died backstage?

Hmm, I'm not sure if it's just me, but the animation/art style reminds me a bit of RWBY season 1.
