It wouldn’t be October without some yandere magic in the air, and it wouldn’t be time for yandere content without Yandere Dev hopping back in for another scandal. That’s right ladies and gentlemen, the infamous mastermind behind a game that’s been in production for almost a decade (feel old yet?) has once again caught himself into another controversy. Perhaps for continuing to fail to deliver on his promises? Not quite, that would be too easy. This time he’s jumping through hoops to address grooming allegations.
Late September multiple clips and details emerged tying Yandere Dev to grooming a minor in his friend group. The minor in question is referred to as “Jane”. After evidence surfaced showing some “interesting” conversations between the two of them, he made a statement to defend himself. The entire statement is a thick boy you can read on your own here if interested, but the summarized version is that he admits to having inappropriate conversations with the minor, but argues he did not groom them. As a way of owning up to his mistake, he donated $1000 to RAINN, an anti-sexual violence charity. In an interesting twist, Jane made a Reddit post herself that corroborates Yandere Dev’s position, saying she was never groomed or felt uncomfortable talking with Dev. According to her, her friends actually leaked the evidence without her consent and she wishes this uproar never happened. Regardless of guilt, many of the few remaining workers on this project left at this point, including voice actress Michaela Laws. It will now be harder than ever to finish this fucking game, and Dev has already made a follow-up blog post to announce he will be stepping away from his computer for a while to try and regain some normalcy in his life and stop making bad choices.

Well boys, it looks like we’ll soon have yet another October in the books without Yandere Simulator ever releasing. Moreover we’re coming up on the ten year mark next year! Woo hoo! Hope everyone is ready to pop some champagne and celebrate, uh, the delays? Maybe the next decade will do the trick. Seriously though, I hope Yandere Dev finds the strength to fix his self-proclaimed destructive lifestyle and move forward, whether that means finishing the game or not.
