Netflix Start Work on Pokémon Live-Action

After the surprising box office success of Detective Pikachu, it's only be natural for Nintendo to want to follow it up with another Pokémon live action. This time it isn't Legendary producing, but Netflix are putting their own spin on the franchise.

The streaming service confirmed that they're working on a live-action series in the vein of the recent movie. Lucifer co-showrunner Joe Henderson is set to write and produce the show, but other than that there are no further details about the cast, crew or even plot at this moment in time.

As long as it keeps the look and feel of the Pokémon themselves that Detective Pikachu had then it'll be off to a good start in my eyes. That movie somehow managed to translate its creatures into realistic CG without diving headfirst into uncanny valley, for the most part. Lord knows we don't need a repeat of the live-action Sonic incident.

What would you like to see in a live-action Pokémon series? Maybe a new take on Ash's adventures from the original anime? An adaptation of a certain arc, movie or game? Or what about something new entirely? Let us know what you think in the comments!

I don't trust Netflix. Not one bit. All this is doing is reminding me that we could have had Robin Williams Professor Oak, and that makes me cry.

I don’t know about this. For one this is Netflix and they are really crashing down in recent years. And I don’t trust them handling anything. But if it is similar to the Detective Pikachu movie with similar art, than it might not be all bad. But I’m going into this very cautiously.

Hmm. It could work. Bleach came out fairly decent. It didn't cram too much like FMA did. And this is a live action pokemon show. So they can't cram too much.

netflix has a track record that resembles a mine field, so i don't trist it to even be made and released.(let alone respect the characters and fans.)

Hmm, interesting. Lets hope the Pokémon models don't turn out like the initial Sonic model. Still if done correctly this will introduce the saga to a whole new generation just as the classic series did to some of us in the 90s and 2000s. We'll see.
