Common Sense, the official company name for the anime studio Arms, held a shareholder meeting on May 31 of this year, where they decided to file the company for special liquidation. They went ahead with this plan on July 22, and were officially reported as bankrupt by credit researchers Tokyo Shoko Research earlier this week.
Originally formed in 1996 as a spin-off from Studio Kikan (now known as Studio Signpost) to handle adult animation, Arms collaborated with Pink Pineapple and Green Bunny in their early days. The studio also released hentai under the names Garyu Studio, Triple X and Dandelion. They changed their company name to Common Sense in 2017, but kept using Arms as their trade name.
The studio frequently worked with animator and character designer Rin Shin, which led to some of their more well-known series such as Queen's Blade, Elfen Lied and Hininden Gausu. Other titles by the studio include Ikki Tousen, Crimson Climax, My Sexual Harassment, Wanna Be the Strongest in the World, Samurai Girls and Maoyu.

It's a shame that a decent studio has to close shop.
I thought it was just another trash-spewing animu studio that needed to go in order to stop the redundancy. It's actually that one studio that makes animu that's not as trashy, as well as hentai.
I'll miss that studio. I bought a few of their titles. Here's hoping the next Ikkitousen gets a new home.
