Evangelion 3.0+1.0 is Finally Here, Alongside a Life-Sized Rei Statue
By Yung Namahage • 3 years ago

Against all odds, the final entry of the Rebuild of Evangelion released in theaters in Japan, putting an end to a franchise that's been dear to otakus wanting to seem intelligent for about as long as I've been alive. It'll probably be a while until we can watch it (legally, Khara are taking piracy very seriously) in the west, but until then we can look at the latest in a long, long line of extravagant Eva merch.

Figure company F:Nex have unveiled 1:1 statue of the mysterious Eva pilot Rei Ayanami. Billed as "the cutest Rei Ayanami", the figure stands at a height of 1.61m (5'3"). F:Nex put a lot of effort in translating her design from 2D to 3D, using different materials for different parts of the suit to ensure realistic-looking textures while making sure the curves and angles are just right. You can get your very own Rei for ¥1,815,000 (about US$17,500).

Not a Rei fan? While there's no Asuka option, you can instead choose this looming figure of Unit 01.

While obviously not to scale it's still pretty huge at 2.34m (7'8") and is outfitted with LEDs so you can live out the Eva fantasies of your dreams. Or nightmares.

Unit 01 is of course the more expensive option, priced at ¥3,003,000 (around US$29,000). Pre-orders are open until late June from the F:Nex website, and shipping is expected next January.
