If you ask me, Studio Khara should've called the final chapter in the Rebuild of Evangelion quadrilogy Evangelion 3.0+1.0 We Can (Not) Release This Movie. But Thrice Upon a Time is a fitting subtitle because that's how many release dates it's had. 

The COVID-19 pandemic was the cause of the previous delays, but now that Japan has decided to lift the state of emergency from six prefectures starting Monday, things seem to be getting back on track. The next and hopefully last release date they've given us is March 8 - just over two weeks away!  

The movie's latest trailer will be instantly familiar to any fan of the series. We get some sneak peeks reminiscent of the series' next episode previews, narrated by none other than Kotono Mitsuishi, AKA Misato. We see a determined looking Shinji, some god tier animation and a shit ton of mass production EVAs from End of Evangelion. With a runtime of 154 minutes, there's sure to be a lot more surprises in stock. Personally, I'd love to see a remix or callback to the climactic banger that is Komm, süsser Tod from EoE.
