Whether you’re a dub hater or not, you have to admit that some English dubs are good right? I know for me personally, I couldn’t watch Dragon Ball in Japanese, but, there are alot of anime shows nowadays I enjoy more in Japanese. Some people just out right hate English dubs, without even giving them a chance. Well, I’m not saying that the English dub for Tomo-chan is a Girl! is good, but I am saying that the English dub voice for Carol is fucking amazing and cute, and makes the show.

Now, when I saw this clip, I couldn’t help but laugh and just keep repeating in my head, “OH MY GOD!!! Carol is so fucking cute and funny!” I couldn’t get enough of her, if this show was about her, and not Tomo-chan, I might have actually picked up the show and watched the English dub. And I was surprised when I learned that the English dub voice is also the same voice for the Japanese dub, Sally Amaki.

This info actually blew my mind. I was hella surprised that both the English dub and Japanese dub were the same person. Japanese voice actors were already “better” than us when it came to dubbing anime, so now they’re coming over here and taking our English roles too!!!

So I’m not sure which dub you prefer, but I feel like Carol sounds great in both. I know I would go with the English dub for this one, just cause I think the jokes would hit better, but the Japanese is still great. But I guess I don’t have to worry about that anyways since I’m not watching the show.

Which do you like better, Carol English dub or Japanese dub? Are you surprised that Carol's English voice and Japanese voice are the same person? Are you watching Tomo-Chan is a Girl!? Tell us in the comments.

I like the novelty of her having the same voice in EN and JP and I think she does a good job, but... My issue is that she sounds VERY off in English.
Japanese dubs have this extreme type sounds that are really unnatural in English, especially in conversation. She keeps this in the English dub, which makes her tone sound very off compared to everyone else. It's not bad, just weird in English.

Have to check this one out, the premise is cute and Tomo herself is a prime waifu. It's practical they had the same actress dub both versions.

If i'm not mistaken she also does this in one of the Vanguard OverDress seasons (the one with pink haired girl as the main cant recall the actual season name) And one of the main characters in D4DJ. I remember first watching the dub of D4DJ and thinking it was someone trying to imitate a japanese accent, hearing the lr thing, then looked it up and was shocked. Even found comparisons online.

The problem with the anime fandom is that Americans want all Japanese actors or actresses to record their English lines too. They don't give a fuck about Japanese, they just want to force them to re-record their dialogue in English. The sub vs dub culture is bullshit. I'm not against her for doing her role in both languages, it's just the fandom wants more actors to do the same.

Japanese. I have no issues with the English version, but the emotional nuances come across better in Japanese as that is the VA's 'everyday' language. Glad this is finally hitting Anime now, it's long been a thing in Music (Fairly common, but not really for the mainstream US market.) as well as Live-Action. (Where it's kind of down-played and left unmentioned.)

IMMHO, Sally did a pretty good job with her English considering. Also, there's no such thing as a bad dub. Just bad rescripting, bad shows in general, and some VA who don't catch up on said bad writing.

SHe sounds pretty detached in the English Dub. But tbh thats pretty much exactly how i always saw her as sounding like. very detached, cute, and also surprisingly straight forward and honest.

These are the exact voices I wanted coming out of these characters
