Amazon Reportedly Bans Anime Figurines Citing Child Pornography Concerns
By WakeUpSnooze • 3 years ago

Heh heh it’s not everyday that this job makes me lose my brain cells, but I do believe I’ll be feeling a little lightheaded after this one baby. I’ve certainly been no fan of anime figurines, even going as far as to write an article questioning why people spend so much money on them in the first place. That being said, while I didn’t understand it I definitely held no ill will against anyone who did enjoy collecting them, but apparently the same can’t be said for Amazon. You all are filthy child porn collectors in their eyes now. Shit, and I ordered an onahole from them ONE TIME so I’m sure I’m on the shit list too.

On March 20th Chuck Gaffney came forward and posted that he was notified to remove several products from his store as Amazon would no longer allow them to be listed on their site as they do not sell products that “promote child exploitation or characters resembling children in a sexually suggestive manner.”. Now that’s all well and good except these were completely normal figurines. Some were popular characters known to clearly not be kids, such as Robin from One Piece. At first I was hesitant to do an article based on a Twitter thread cause they’re pretty dumb over there, but according to another news outlet Chuck already gained some notoriety for attacking Amazon back in 2018 for pointlessly removing anime products from their site. This would be their second time fucking him offer and him reporting it so his word has a bit more weight.

As I mentioned before I have no attachment to anime figurines as a product, yet here I sit sad and disappointed with the world once again. Personally I’m like “yo these things are not fucking real people so who cares”, but I can understand Amazon not wanting to come under fire for allowing child anime characters to be depicted nude on their website. But that’s not the case here. Many of these were clearly adult characters and to my knowledge few were actually depicting a naked character, if any. This just seems like an overblown response to a nonexistent problem.

The attack on anime never ceases soldiers. This is merely one more example of that. As for what can be done, probably not much. Figurine enthusiasts will have to take their business elsewhere I suppose. Do you care about figurines? Is Amazon overstepping for no reason? Can they do whatever they feel like since it’s their site? Don’t get banned in the comments below!
