The All New Haptic Feedback... Shirt?
By WakeUpSnooze • 9 months ago

When it comes to haptic feedback in the gaming space, only one product enters my mind: the Playstation 5 Controller. I own a PS5 now but unfortunately have yet to actually play anything that offers haptic feedback so I can’t speak from firsthand experience. However, the review of the haptics appears to be positive from everyone I end up watching and talking to. Almost every playthrough I watch on YouTube has the player saying “oh wow, I can feel the bow’s tension” or “the trigger on that gun was sick”. People were claiming back when the next gen console wars was first firing up that Sony had clearly out delivered Xbox in terms of the new controller and I haven’t seen much pushback on that opinion as time went by. Today though, I’m here to announce that the controller can go fuck itself boys. Take those shirts off, toss them aside, and prepare to put on your new OWO Haptic Gaming Tee.

This product has actually been announced and drumming up a bit of interest for months now, but things recently reached a peak with the reveal that a special Assassin’s Creed Mirage edition of the shirt will be available for order when it releases. The killing simulator comes out later this year in the fall, so I assume we can see the shirt’s official debut around that time in October. This really garnished interest for the product as having a big name franchise behind it definitely helps with the “who the fuck is OWO” stigma. The shirt is designed to target the VR market as a way to add extra feedback to your system. Ironically it’s been criticized for not having many VR games listed as supported yet. I assume those will come in time, though for right now there are some big names on the compatible list such as League of Legends, Fortnite, Valorant, Half-Life: Alyx, Halo Infinite, and of course everyone’s favorite Arizona Sunshine. So that’s cool, it works with some big names but what does “working” mean exactly? The shirt is supposedly capable of making you experience a variety of sensations including feeling wind on your skin, getting stabbed, driving fast, lifting something heavy, getting bit by an insect, and more. From the tech we’ve seen explained I’m unaware how it plans to emulate such a diverse array of physical stimulus but hey that’s what future reviews from day 1 buyers are for.

This doesn't seem plausible, and it's only page one.

Will it live up to the promises? God I can’t imagine it could. If it does that would be a huge leap forward in immersion for sexy games. Uh, I mean video games. Wait, could this thing simulate a big pair of honkers rubbing on my chest? Ah sorry, that’s my scientific mind getting ahead of me. Obviously if this product ships and receives some good, hehe, “feedback”, then we may have to do another article to truly understand its potential. For now we'll leave it at that. Have you heard of haptic feedback shirts? Do you think the Assassin’s Creed collab is a good sign or just marketing bullshit? Would you want to try a haptic shirt yourself? Do the laundry, throw your old tees in the trash, and enjoy the simulated feeling of getting shot in the comments below!
