It's finally here! David Production have given us a first look at the animated adaption of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean, announced back in May. I've been waiting months for this, and as usual, they have not disappointed! The visuals are on point, the character designs are perfect and the music positively slaps. Check it for yourself here:
Stone Ocean brings the series to Florida, in the year 2011. Joraro's rebellious (and horny) teenage daughter Jolyne gets framed for a murder she didn't commit and thrown in the maximum security Green Dolphin Street Prison, where inmates can pay their way to luxury so long as the guards get their cut. She soon awakens her stand power discovers she's not the only one here with secret powers, before getting wrapped up in a conspiracy leading back to her family's long-dead archnemesis Dio. When her father comes to visit, they put together a team of stand-using criminals to find a way to escape the prison and stop Dio's followers from enacting a mysterious plan.
Parts 1-3 director Kenichi Suzuki serves as chief director for the series, while Part 4 director Toshiyuki Kato is the lead director of Part 6. Parts 3-5 composer Yugo Kanno is once again handling this season's score. As for the voice cast, Jolyne Cujoh is voiced by Ai Fairouz (Hibiki in How Heavy Are the Dumbbells You Lift?), Ermes Costello is voiced by Matsumi Tamura (Kobayashi in Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid), Foo Fighters is voiced by Mariya Ise (Stocking in Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt), Narciso Anasui is Daisuke Namikawa (Yashiro Isana in K), Weather Report is voiced by Yuichiro Umehara (Goblin Slayer in Goblin Slayer), Emporio Alniño is voiced by Atsumi Tanezaki (Arisa Uotani in Fruits Basket 2019), and Daisuke Ono reprises his role as Jotaro Kujo.
Netflix will be distributing the series and will release it worldwide in December, only a few months from now. There's so much I'm excited to see from this series, including the best girl trio of Jolyne, Ermes and F.F kicking ass, Weather Report's stand Weather Report's crazy abilities and this part's yet unseen villain.
