Hololive Vtuber Interviews With Hollywood Are Becoming Normal
By WakeUpSnooze • 2 years ago

If you achieve greatness once, people will call it a fluke. If you achieve greatness twice, perhaps you’re simply a very lucky person. If you achieve it three times… well who knows what happens because we’re not quite there yet. I was planning to do an article covering how Hololive’s Laplus interviewed Robert Patterson and Zoe Kravitz back when The Batman had just released but I fell behind on my schedule and I thought “meh, that was probably a one-off occurrence anyway”. But oh no, how wrong I was. You can imagine my shock when I found out that Fubuki then did an interview with Jared Leto regarding Morbius back toward the end of March. And to this I said to myself: what the fuck? I will post both interviews below but be warned to watch at your own risk. It’s definitely a unique experience.

Now would I throw the cringe label on these interviews? Nah. I think it’s pretty obvious that the Hollywood actors were immediately thinking “why the fuck am I talking to an anime character for an interview right now” but soon afterwards the classic showbusiness political skills kicked in and it was smooth sailing from there. The worst I’d say is there is definitely an awkwardness in the air in the beginning of the videos. But hey, what’s an interview between a big name actor and an anime Vtuber without a touch of awkwardness? Honestly it went better than I had anticipated after seeing the initial thumbnails so hats off to everyone involved. It sure is crazy to see how far Vtubers have come in the West and how their reach seems to only expand further.

My question is, right now it seems like the girls are focusing on superhero-type movies and from what I understand Japan do be loving our superheroes. Does this mean we can expect more interviews every time there’s another Marvel movie? A certain Dr. Strange perhaps? Because if so goddamn that’s going to mean a lot of interviews down the road. At the same time I wonder if these were merely a test by Hololive and the vids will be gauged appropriately to determine if it’s worth it to try and score these Vtuber x Actor conversations. Either way, I’m excited to see if this pattern will continue or if this was merely a test or lucky break. Something tells me Vtubers are simply becoming too powerful and we can expect this practice to grow in the future but hey only time will tell.

And in turn I do be loving Japan's superheroes yessir.

By the way, did any of you guys get out there and see The Batman? I’ve heard great things and like Batman so I wanted to see it but haven’t found the time to get to a theater. Morbius uh… well I heard that one wasn’t so good. Perhaps the opposite of good. Are you watching any Vtubers? Do you care about either of these movies? Will more Hollywood x Vtuber interactions be happening down the road you think? Lights, camera, and your action is to leave a comment below!
