Hentai Facts about Lolicon
By RinSigua • 6 years ago

Here I go again! This time, let’s talk about something a little bit more sinful. Let’s talk about Lolicon.

After explaining to the authorities, RinSigua was able to resume writing this blog.

After sorting out some facts and other information, here’s something I’ve learned.

First, let’s talk about Lolicon’s etymology.

Lolicon ( ロリコン , rorikon )

The term was first used by the Japanese in the 70’s when Russel Trainer’s book “The Lolita Complex” got translated and entered Japan. The term Lolita complex was used in Shinji Wada’s “Stumbling Upon a Cabbage Field,” and the term would be used later. One of the early Loli models were Momo of Magical Princess Minky Momo and Clarisse of Lupin III: Castle of Cagliostro. Hideo Azuma will then take the word Lolita complex in a whole new meaning when he revolutionized doujins (see previous work here) by adding lolis on hentai.

Then, in the late 90’s, shit hits the fan when Tsutomu Miyazaki kidnapped four young girls and proceeded to do terrible, atrocious things to them. He was given the name “The Otaku Killer.” The guy killed and raped (in that order) small girls and upon investigation, was found to be fond of loli anime and manga. This caused a panic and the otaku sub-culture was blamed. This became the reason why Lolicon is synonymous with the word Pedophile in Japan.

However, lolicon and pedophilia are totally different. Let’s examine the difference of the two.

Sadly, despite the fact that most lolicons wouldn’t hurt a child, society has a negative view towards lolicon. This stems from the bad publicity the genre had. There was the case of Kaoru Kobayashi, who was branded an otaku and a lolicon because he sexually assaulted and murdered a seven-year-old girl on 2004. There was no loli manga, doujin, hentai, movies, figures, or any other media that indicates him being an otaku, but he was branded as an otaku lolicon anyway because of media misinformation by the anti-otaku journalist.

Today, as the world becomes more open-minded and more accepting, the stain caused by the Otaku Killer is slowly fading away. The lolicon genre in manga, anime, and hentai is now slowly being accepted. Even in Japan, they are acknowledging that lolicon and pedophile is different, and had devised steps to address some issues regarding the matter.

In the end, I believe that being a lolicon is harmless as long as one can clearly discern the boundary of fantasy and reality. It’s ok to be a lolicon, as long as you don’t go out and kidnap girls and stuff. As ComicLO said,

“… a happy [and] healthy life can be lived by people who are satisfied being lolicons in their imagination only. Moderate exercise, sufficient sleep, and a level-headed approach to masturbation will help keeping the mind focused. ComicLO will support you in living your mental lolicon life enjoyable.”
