A lot of buzz has been going around recently based on possible leaks that the PS5 Pro and an Xbox equivalent are already in the works and could be seen as early as next year. In case you’re a PC gamer only or not a gamer at all, acquiring these consoles has been an absolute hellhole and your boy still doesn’t have a regular PS5 locked down. Sony said that they are currently in the process of skyrocketing production of the PS5 to new heights, but obviously it will still take a while for those changes to affect the market. Currently I’m seeing the average price as about $750 for one on Ebay, and Amazon is only selling consoles “by invitation” which I have no idea what the fuck that means. Point is, console fans were expectedly underwhelmed and unexcited as Sony hasn’t been able to keep up with demand for the basic version of their new system so the chance of the Pro being produced enough to be obtainable for the average citizen in the beginning is pretty low. 

Let’s take a step back and figure out if these rumors are even credible as I’ve heard two stories. The first is that a television company, TCL Technology, while doing a presentation, noted they think the PS5 Pro will be coming out in a later quarter of 2023. According to reports they have no insider information and are merely speculating based on other factors. However, readers were quick to point out that a television company would be quite interested in pushing the PS5 Pro “8k” gaming narrative in order to boost interest in their own products, therefore they shouldn’t be trusted too much. The other report was from a credible leaker who also targeted the late 2023 early 2024 timeframe and I'm very upset. I can't find his name because I saw an article about his leak before I had the idea to write about this and now I’m very sad and triggered and sorry. Regardless, the source of the rumors appears to stem from these two events and they got people talking.

At this point I can’t say I care too much about the next emerging console, whether that be an upgraded version or a whole new generation. I still haven’t forked over the cash for an overpriced unit and currently the gap between the two generations’ games is so small that I can’t be bothered to try to deal hunt either. One day I know I’ll have to buckle down and switch over so that I can keep up with exclusive anime fighting games on the Playstation series, and I pray that by then the shit is down to a regular asking price. When the PS5 Pro and New Xbox do release, whether that be at the previously aforementioned timeframes or not, that should help to drive prices down on the regular units and since I really don’t give a shit about 8k that might be a fine time to make the purchase.

Sometimes I wish I could put polls up around different places on the Internet, as my memory seems to tell me most of you guys are PC gamers (of which I am too most of the time now) and may not be worried about this whole fiasco in the slightest. But hey don’t feel left out of the shortages, I still haven’t seen these price reductions in GPUs that were promised around a month ago. Are you planning to buy a console?
