Dropkick on my Devil! Renewed for Second Season!
By Yung Namahage • 5 years ago

This is proving to be a good week for fans of monster girls as far as announcements are concerned. After news of a Journal of the Mysterious Creatures  anime adaptation broke just a few days ago, it's been confirmed that Dropkick on My Devil! will be returning for more supernatural slapstick action!

DoMD! is the story of a witch named Yurine, who one day accidentally summons an evil, immortal tsundere lamia (that's a woman with a snake's tail instead of legs FYI) called Jashin, all the way from Hell. Jashin is none too pleased about being forced to live in a decrepit apartment with Yurine on Earth, and constantly tries to murder her so she can go home. That might sound grim, but it's all depicted in a comedic kind of way reminiscent of Tom & Jerry but much more kawaii and with more chainsaws.

Based on a popular web manga by Yukiwo that launched in 2012, the first season began last year as an Amazon Prime Video exclusive. After the first season ended in October, the staff promised that the show will be renewed if DVD and Blu-Ray sales surpass a combined total of 2,000, and now they're set to fulfil their end of the bargain.

New voice talents include Nanami Yamashita (Miku in Darling in the Franxx) and Minami Tanaka (Hinato Okano in Assassination Classroom) but apart from that not much has been revealed as of yet. There's also a crowdfunding campagin (in Japanese) to raise funds for a set of image songs based on various characters from the show, that, at the time of writing, has already reached over the halfway point.
