Street Fighter V Ads Are NOT Here to Stay

We've discussed ads in Street Fighter V a couple of times now, HERE and HERE. To sum it up, SFV was offering players Fight Money to turn ads on. If one players had them off, and their online opponent had them on, both would see the ads. The Fight Money itself didn't add up to a lot, either. There was little incentive to have the ads on, and the players made their opinions known. The devs said "We'll take your opinions into account, but not really, we're keeping the ads. #Hadouken." Heavily paraphrased, but that was the gist of it. So we're done right? Okay, thanks for reading. Be sure to enjoy our Street Fighter doujins!

Then again, maybe not. With no word or fanfaire, Capcom removed in-game ads, the costumes and arenas that were just there to advertise stuff. No word on why, but they're gone. It should be noted that most of the ads were for the Capcom Pro Tour, and that ended. So will ads return? Hard to say. Let the devs like Yoshinori Ono know how you feel about this. Capcom is a pillar of the gaming community, on par with Square-Enix and Nintendo. No amount of money is worth the loss in reputation among the gaming community.
