Senran Kagura Producer Leaves Marvelous Due to Censorship

We've spoken plenty about censorship in the games industry, especially among ecchi titles such as the Senran Kagura franchise. The latest in the series, Burst: Re:Newal, was controversially delayed after Sony pressured publisher XSeed to remove the "intimacy mode", and the upcoming title Senran Kagura 7EVEN has seen no end of trouble during its ongoing development. This has surely brought no shortage of stress to the developers at Marvelous, in particular series "huge boob producer" Kenichiro Takaki.

In an interview with Famitsuearlier this week, Takaki announced his decision to leave Marvelous after spending the past 13 years of his life working on Senran Kagura. One of the biggest reasons is of course the tightening restrictions on the kind of games he creates, which is making it increasingly hard to meet fan's expectations. He now works at Cygames where he intends on creating a more traditional fantasy-style game, the kind he would play as a child.

He also stated that he has a new project in the works with Marvelous unrelated to his previous series, which will include a game and an anime, although unlike Senran Kagura the girls in it will keep their clothes on. He hopes his fans will think “he made something amazing even though he’s the oppai producer, what sass!”

Fans of busty ninja schoolgirls tearing each other's clothes off don't need to worry, though: Takaki will still be working on the Senran Kagura series for now including 7EVEN alongside current Marvelous staff.

What do you think about Takaki's decision? Is he right about censorship? Are you excited for his upcoming works and the future of Senran Kagura? Let us know in the comments!

Of course he’s right since being restricted from doing what you love to do is bad.

Though make sure what you love to do doesn’t involve something disgusting like scat or something similar.

increased games censorship is hurting artistic vision in games, I feel if you really wanna see titts in a game though go buy ero games, senran has never been a good game series out side of fan service

"The creators of Mortal Kombat were at EVO today trying to promote their game by killing live people and calling it 'brutal physics'."

Those people would be in jail and we'd never hear of MK ever again. That's why they don't do it.
