Paramount Confirms Sonic 3 & Knuckles TV Spin-Off

Fan reception toward Sonic 2 has been positive so far. A lot of people are excited to see Ben Schwartz' Sonic square off against Knuckles, voiced by Idris Elba sounding way sexier than he needs to be. So many people that Paramount must've noticed, and like with the last movie they're taking note of fan reception and responding accordingly. Only this time the fans actually like what they see.

Sega CEO Haruki Satomi confirmed on Twitter that Sonic 3 and a live-action series in the same universe are in production. He said, "we’ve got a remarkable partnership with Paramount, and we are excited to continue expanding the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise with them.2022 is shaping up to be a significant year for the franchise with the second film being released this April, as well as 'Sonic Frontiers', the highly anticipated video game title, coming this holiday."

The series, which is coming to Paramount+, will focus on Knucks, with Idris again lending his voice to the  echidna. And while Sonic 2 isn't in theaters for a good few weeks, they've already unveiled the official logo for the next movie in the series.

The 2 in the logo for Sonic 2 is yellow and has two tails; an obvious reference to Tails, who appeared in the first movie's post-credits scene. Take this with a grain of salt, but that 3 being black and red? That can only mean one thing in my eyes.

Let's fucking go, Shadowbros!

What do you guys think? Are you excited by the idea of a third Sonic movie and a Knuckles series or are Paramount counting their Chao before they've hatched? Drop your thoughts below!

They're moving way too fast, and yes, that is ironic. The entertainment industry needs to stop jumping into the deep end with both feet just from a single success.

Welp, they were bound to introduce Original the Character (Do not steal!) at some point.

I'll be honest: I preferred the video games to the first movie and I expect the same for any future movies. That said, the movies do have their upsides. For me those upsides include Jim Carrie playing an even better Eggman than I could have imagined and Idris Alba doing the voice of knuckles and sounding, as you put it, "...way sexier than he needs to be." I would love to see Shadow however.

I can't see myself watching any of these movies without it having some kind of negative impact on my current like for the sonic franchise. The biggest red flag is anything associated with western entertainment industry. The other flag is that these movies look like pure autism. I'll stick to the games.

I have to say that I wasn't able to sit through the Sonic movie. I just... couldn't wrap my head around Jim Carrey as Eggman (part of it is because I've long stopped finding him funny) and I just wasn't digging Ben Schwartz as Sonic.

I mean, I guess I'm happy for Sonic fans who enjoyed the film and are glad to have more stuff coming, but personally I do feel Paramount's jumping the gun.

Sounds to me like they’re getting ahead of themselves, but I care not. I never enjoyed Sonic like others seemed to.

Interesting. Elba as Knuckles is quite the show stopper of badass, it'd be great for him to get a series.
