Is it Wrong to Watch the Rurouni Kenshin Reboot?

I’m hype for the new Rurouni Kenshin reboot. Starting from the beginning, and giving it the adaptation that it deserves. Well, maybe not that it deserves, depending on who you ask. Like, does a story written by a pedophile really deserves a reboot?

I saw this tweet and it kind of ticked me off. It depends on who you are and who you ask. For me personally, someone and their work are two different things. Yeah sure, the mangaka might was convicted of possessing child porn. But our boy Kenshin never touched a child before. We shouldn’t be punishing him.

The face of a man who hate pedophiles.

But seriously, not supporting this anime hurts the creators of the anime more than the mangaka. And either way, it’s just stupid to hate the people who just want to watch the anime. Like, how do you know the people watching the reboot even know about the artist's past. Hell, some anime watchers don’t even know that Rurouni Kenshin is based on a manga. For all we know, they might think the movie came first and the movie got an anime adaptation. The series doesn't support or focus on his child porn collecting habit, so why connect the two. Let’s just enjoy the anime when it comes out. The same way we should enjoy this amazing trailer.

Rurouni Kenshin is looking too great not to watch, and as someone who always wanted to watch Rurouni Kenshin but couldn’t really vibe with the old anime look, I’m very excited for this reboot. You think the threat of some Twitter typier blocking me is going to stop me from watching a real life lolicon creator’s series?

Do you think blocking people who support the Rurouni Kenshin reboot is overreacting? Are you going to watch the Rurouni Kenshin reboot? What did you think of the trailer? Tell us in the comments.

If people aren't allowed to have successful jobs after they go to jail, might as well execute them all and save time and money.

A good story is a good story. This moral condemnation of artists, no matter how richly deserved, is eroding the entire entertainment industry. Most of the best stories ever written were written by people who were horrifically tortured by the circumstances of their lives or the pathologies of their twisted minds, if not both. Separate art from artist or accept inevitable mediocrity.

Yes. Unobjectively, giving money to a pedophile is wrong.

As far as social media goes, Mike Tyson said it best: "Social media made y'all way too comfortable with disrespecting people and not getting punched in the face for it."

I've had to listen to "X did a minuscule bad thing" ongoing for 4+ years now, I'm out of fucks and I'm biased, I like Kenshin and I'm going to support it. His crimes didn't harm me so whatever.

No, it isn't wrong. Anyone is free to disagree. I don't particularly care if they do, but I'll be watching the series.

What the hell do I care about the author's past? If he makes good quality work, I'll watch it, and if that quality is high enough, then I'll buy it.

"as someone who always wanted to watch Rurouni Kenshin but couldn't really vibe with the old anime look" Damn kinky, are you missing out. There are a lot of amazing anime from the 90s that have storylines they never bothered to duplicate and most come from that time when 26 episode anime were the normal. Please tell me you at least watched Outlaw Star?

Well, kenshin was 28 and kaoru was 17 at the start of the series so...
