Hollywood is Setting its Sights on My Hero Academia
By Yung Namahage • 5 years ago

Considering how popular this shonen smash hit is both in and outside of Japan, it was only inevitable that it'll be coming to the big screen in live action form.

Following the highly successful release of the animated movie My Hero Academia: Two Heroes, Legendary Entertainment has announced its intent to adapt the franchise into a feature film alongside its upcoming Detective Pikachu movie.

So far, producer Alex Garcia (Godzilla/Kong series) and writer Jay Ashenfalter (Pacific Rim: Uprising) have been attached to the project from Legendary, along with Ryosuke Yoritomi on behalf of Shueisha, the company that publishes the manga.

Legendary is no stranger to superheroes, as they previously produced Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy, Watchmen and Man of Steel. But will they be the ones to finally make a good Hollywood movie based on an anime? Will they do justice to our best girls? Will it just be a remake of Sky High? Guess we'll have to wait and find out.
