Japanese Fans Unhappy with Aeris' New Look

For people appropriately worrying about how Tifa is going to look in the highly-anticipated FF 7 Remake, which isn't likely coming before March 2020, Aeris fans in Japan aren't happy with her appearance, kind of like how people feel about the new Sonic design. After the "State of Play" happened, Aeris was trending higher than FF7R on Japanese Twitter as you can see below:

So what's the deal? Complaints ranged from likening Aeris’s new look to that of a person who had plastic surgery done on their nose to her face being rather long. Others just chalked it up to her hairstyle. Regardless, attempts are being made to 'fix' her design, again kind of like the new Sonic design. You can see that below:

Many of the complaints are found in an Esuteru article HERE. Whether or not there is any merit to their complaints, it's unlikely SE will follow the Sonic dev team and make any changes to Aeris' design. But should they? Discuss in the comments below.

I really like her design. I don't see anything wrong with it. She looks like a person. I think that's great. Shit, I might actually play FF 7 for once just because of how she looks.

No, her design fits in with the world that SE is making. Changing it into 'that' would cause Aerith to clash with the world around her and make her look fake, and make lose her that 'girl with a strong connection to nature' look she has.

As with Sonic i gotta again say "she's being done in FF's current art-style of 3D Real Life(as in they try to use 3d to make them look like "real" people, what else are they supposed to do"? Even more is she look waaaayyyyyy better then Sonic did; i don;t have the impulse to scream die while using a flamethrower on that hedgehog.

Left: Aerith looking like she's from the latest Resident Evil.
Right: Aerith looking like a 3D anime girl.

Seriously? What she looks like? Not the other obvious issue?

She looks exactly as she always has. That redesign looks fucking atrocious. That looks like some inhuman BS.

Her Remake design is significantly better than Sonic's movie design, and is about what I expected after Kingdom Hearts, Advent Children, and Crisis Core. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't get the complaints with this after 15-ish years of her basically having this design.

And we could no longer play with her. So by the will of the gods and the the begging of most of the fans MAKE IT THIS TIME SO WE CAN SAVE HER FROM THAT GRISLY FATE!!!!!!!

I'd say her look for the remake is to match the current graphics. There are slightly differences comparing the new version and the old one but it is only minor. By mine opinion the fans around the world should focus not too much on the difference to the looks of the characters but the story. Why you might ask? Cause back then when we played the game we had the moment that Aeris

She kind of looks like Mandy Moore, back when she voiced the character. Honestly, I like the new look.
