Fortnite Enters The World Of Anime With Naruto Collaboration
By WakeUpSnooze • 2 years ago

Now I may be mistaken as I’m not exactly the biggest Fortnite gamer in the world so please don’t crucify me if this is inaccurate, but I believe we are here today to witness history. Fortnite recently collaborated with Naruto which marks the first anime collaboration with the game. I shifted through the Fortnite wiki and quickly read through all 70+ entries in the database regarding crossovers and I didn’t see another anime one listed anywhere, though that could have been my eyesight failing me. The update includes new skins and weapons focusing on the characters Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura, and Kakashi. I don’t expect anyone to watch it, but I’ll leave the short teaser trailer below to any who wish to view it for the meme.

I think Fortnite got a bad rep similar to Minecraft. People played it, it was alright, then kids played it and suddenly it became the target for jokes across the Internet. I’ve actually revisited it myself with some friends and I was having a good time. That doesn’t account for shit though, you have to take into consideration the “Co-Op Gamer Fallacy”. Spending time with your friends should be fun regardless of what y’all are doing, thus often when playing co-op you may consider a game to be fun that otherwise would be dogshit boring if you were playing it by yourself. And all I know is when I played Fortnite solo I was ready to kill myself so I don’t think I’ll be hopping back on the saddle to try out this Naruto collab unless my friends ask me to.

Still, it’s crazy to see the reach Fortnite has expanded to. When I was reading through the list of crossovers, I was dumbfounded to see just how many entries there were. John Wick, The Walking Dead, The NFL, Stranger Things, Batman, Ghostbusters, Star Wars, and Halo are just some of the franchises that Fortnite has added in. Looking them over it was really only a matter of time before they found an anime series to snatch up and work with, and they couldn't have picked many more prominent ones in the West than Naruto. God damn the world has gone global ladies and gentlemen. Anime is everywhere.

Don't think I forgot about Street Fighter either.

The question now is: are more anime collaborations in the works? Probably not right around the corner but if this makes more money for Epic Games I’m sure they’ll magically work another crossover out with a different series. What a time to be alive. Are you logging in to Fortnite to see the Naruto update? Will this lead to more anime collabs in the future? Believe it, and leave a comment below!
