Fakku's Online Store Goes Down Due To Pressure From Anti-Porn Movement
By WakeUpSnooze • 2 years ago

Man, this isn’t exactly what I expected to write about today but here we are. I’ll post an official recap of the situation from Fakku down below, however the gist of it is that Fakku had to halt their online store as of August 31th and recently came through with more details on September 8th as to why. And unfortunately it’s nothing to be excited about. In a follow up FAQ post, they informed readers that it was no security breach or data loss event, it’s simply more of the same anti-porn movement stuff coming from “mainstream tech platforms”. That’s a bit vague to me, though it does sound familiar to a certain OnlyFans, perhaps? Although with OnlyFans it was clearly stated to be banking partners instead of mainstream tech platforms. Regardless, here’s the summary in Fakku’s own words:

As of August 31st, 2021, FAKKU is unable to accept orders for digital or physical goods (doujin, games, books, apparel, etc) from our store, which was hosted by a 3rd party service. This does not impact FAKKU Unlimited subscriptions. Pre-orders placed before August 31st, 2021 will be shipped to customers on-time and without issue, barring any unforeseen unrelated circumstances. We are actively working to create an order status page for these orders that will provide tracking and additional information.

All new non-subscription releases are currently delayed. FAKKU is actively working on getting a new storefront in place for order fulfillment and we will be posting more updates soon.

Now the issue here is everything is getting a bit close to home. OnlyFans is one thing, but seeing another anime site come under fire for this shit is depressing. Sure I’m not exactly a fan of Fakku but this is simply a dangerous warning for everyone in the doujin industry. I hope one day we get more elaboration on the “mainstream tech platforms” in terms of who exactly demanded changes to Fakku’s online store and what kinds of demands were made. On the bright side it doesn’t sound like the users were completely fucked. Orders prior to August 31st were still sent out and the subscription aspect of the site still seemed to function properly according to the FAQ. Which is good news for Fakku because I’m sure there would be hell to pay from the user base if that was affected. Lastly, I’ll note that they are planning to rebuild the storefront aspect in the coming days and will have updates as to how that goes when more progress has been achieved. If you want to read the whole post and FAQ, you can find them here.

I'm sure it's been a busy week at the office.

As aforementioned I simply can’t get too happy about a competitor being cucked by these mysterious “third party partners”. I somewhat understood the problem with sites like Pornhub where revenge porn and other disgusting shit could be posted there and be extremely difficult to moderate. But these are doujins and hentai in fake animeland where nobody is fucking real. Just let the people fap in peace dammit. What do you guys think about the situation? Is this a foreboding warning for other lewd anime sites, or was this simply a result of bad planning/partner selection? Take the podium and leave a comment below!

P.S. No, the IPO is not involved in this to my knowledge, but that old art seemed to fit so well I couldn't resist using it for the cover.
