Diablo Immortal Receives Chilly Reception from Fans
By Kasaix • 5 years ago

Hoo boy, actual hell froze over. Diablo did not pay his infernal bills. If you're out of the loop, Blizzard announced a new Diablo game titled Diablo Immortal for mobile devices. The fans at BlizzCon were none too pleased. Their reaction, and the reactions to those reactions, are why it's being covered here. But first, to be balanced, let's take a look at the cinematic trailer.

Now let's start poking the devil. First, actually go to the YouTube link HERE and look at the likes to dislikes ratio, and the comments. The fans, suspecting the standard microtransactions that other mobile titles have, were none too pleased with this announcement. This is Diablo, traditionally a full PC game, but has seen console releases, but never a mobile title. Now, there's nothing wrong with mobile titles. Not all mobile games are freemium. The World Ends With You and Shantae have hit mobile devices, and both are great games. What hardcore Diablo fans might be concerned about is the freemium, microtransaction stuff that can really pull people out of a mobile game ruining the Diablo experience.

Now for the laughs.

Red Shirt Guy 2018. So one is funny, the other is so funny it hurts. The people are not happy with this turn of events. A bewildering turn of events at that.

Also "Do you guys not have phones?!" Yeah they most likely do, but I imagine they also have PCs, the traditional Diablo platform. So...

Even more bewildering is the notion that Blizzard is purging negative comments and dislikes. Now, I can't quite prove that, but the comments are littered with these accusations. Not saying they're true or not true, just reporting it. I don't think Blizzard is that dumb. Well, going from massive PC games to a mobile title may not be the best move. Bethesda did it with Fallout Shelter, but it was more add-on than full game, and meant to hype the forthcoming Fallout title from that year.

Now for more cheap laughs and idiocy. Buckle up, folks.

Oof, are these people okay? I mean, that leap in logic can't be good. So, people hating on a mobile title...is actually hating on women...because the majority of mobile players are women? What the actual hell? You need to cite your sources. Even if that were the case and most mobile gamers are women, that still doesn't make sense.

But enough of this. Get your cheap laughs at the expense of these ill-informed people who think hating a mobile game is bad and disgusting. Let me remind you, this happened at BlizzCon! That's not a free trip. It costs money to get a ticket there, to travel, maybe some swag and food. These are Blizzard fans! It's not like it was free to throw shade at Blizzard. It cost money. These tweets and articles are more disrespectful and whiney than the fans they're trying to mock.
