Another day on Twitter, another issue involving anime fans. I’m not saying anime is one of the worst communities I’ve been a part of, but man, it’s getting rough. League of Legend is pretty shit and toxic, and I know people always talk about how racist the Call of Duty voice chat can get, but do they ever get to the level of Twitter racism, with the recent Dandadan art drama.
Aye!!! Chill!! NSFW didn't do anything to you.
Now, my first opinion on this, is that I don’t think there was any need for harassment, I feel like art shouldn’t really get that deep honestly. But, the thing that upset me the most about this issue, is that not too long ago, people were getting mad at a Japanese artist for drawing Marina from Splatoon a little to light.
So my main problem is, why do people think it’s okay to change a Japanese character black, but it’s wrong for a Japanese artist to make a character lighter? It’s either both are good, or both are bad. Stop trying to have your cake and eat it too. And some people's defence is that black people are minorities, that’s why it’s okay. But like, ASIAN PEOPLE ARE MINORITIES TOO!!! So what you’re saying doesn’t make sense.
I don’t care either way, I just want people to stay consistent on this topic and either let everyone change the race of a character, or no one can change the race of a character. Pick one.
Nah, now this is wild.
What do you think of the drama? Do you think it’s okay to make a character black cause they’re minorities? Why is Dandadan in so much controversy? Tell us in the comments.
So... no.
And IMMHO, DanDaDan is yet another guy-hating animu franchise. But the artist who did it was awesome.
The idea that you need to bully an artist for changing the character you like is just pathetic.
But then you had the dickheads who insisted their interpretation was "canon".
I feel sorry for them, their lives must suck if they have to distract themselves like that to avoid thinking about it.
