Catch Persona's New Best Girl in Action
By Yung Namahage • 4 years ago

We've been fawning over Kasumi Yoshizawa, the latest member of the Phantom Thieves, for months now. We've had a look at her thief outfit and her weapon, but apart from her being a cute redhead (and you know we like cute redheads) and that she was initially opposed to the Phantom Thieves before she ended up joining them somehow, we don't know much about her. How does she fight? What does she do in her spare time? What's her personality like? And what's her Persona? Fortunately, Atlus has blessed us with a trailer all about Kasumi, answering all those questions and more.

Firstly, it's been confirmed that she's voiced by Sora Amamiya in Japanese, also known for voicing Aqua in KonoSuba, among others. And, like every other female member of the Phantom Thieves, she's a new potential love interest for Joker. Her interactions with him show off her playful, kinda goofy personality that definitely adds to the cuteness factor. We also get a look at her Persona Awakening, which looks like it takes place in a brand new Palace. It's worth noting that only Joker and Morgana are in the party at this point, so maybe her introduction is right at the beginning of the game with a new target set before Ann & Ryuji join to break into Kamoshida's palace? Although this wouldn't make sense if she was opposed to the Thieves so I'm assuming it'll be different in the final game.

Her Persona is called Cendrillon, named after a French operatic interpretation of Cinderella. Its graceful appearance is probably inspired by her hobby of rhythmic gymnastics, which shows from her All-Out Attack finishing touch. I really like the idea of fighting inspired by dancing so I imagine she'll be using her rapier with the same style and finesse she uses with that ribbon. Also, I cannot get enough of that thigh-high/leotard/trenchoat combo so she's risen up the ranks of best girl in my mind purely because of that.

What do you think of Kasumi now that you've seen her in-game? Does she have what it takes to compete with Ann, Haru, Makoto et al. for the title of best girl? Will you be romancing her when you get your hands on Persona 5 Royal? Chime in below!
