Are They Censoring My Hero Academia: Vigilantes?

A new PV trailer and more information has been released about My Hero Academia: Vigilantes has come out, and fans are not happy. The animation and art style is looking on point, which we have come to expect from Studio Bones.

So what are people so upset about? Well, the thing that is getting under people's skin this time around is that it seems like the studio has decided to censor some parts of the character Pop Step.

In the manga, her legs are completely bare, while in the anime, she seems to be wearing a thin pair of see through gray leggings. Which, in my opinion, doesn’t seem to be that big of a deal for me honestly. And if we want to dig even deeper, it seems as if they might also lower the amount of cleavage she’s showing in the anime.

Even if this is considered censorship, it’s not that big for me to get upset by it. Like, it’s not like the studio put pants on her, she still pretty much has her ass out. It’s not such a huge change that actually affects anything. So the change doesn’t phase me much, but that might just be because I haven’t been caught up with My Hero as much lately.

What do you think about Pop Step censorship? Do you think Pop Step is still hot? Are you going to watch My Hero Academia: Vigilantes? Tell us in the comments.

If they gotta censor, why didn't they rescue her from the fashion disaster that is that skirt (belt)?

Looking at it the only real issue I have is that the gray just doesn't look all that great and I wish they'd picked a different color. That and do something with her belt (be honest it ain't a skirt), it hangs so low in the front that it just looks kind weird instead of sexy.

I know censoring will only lead to lewd art and ironically attention. Kind of reminds of how the old Bleach Anime censored Soifon's outfit with her iconic hip vent fundoshi.

I don't think it's that big a deal, and I don't think most anime fans on the Japanese side are very bothered either because they're used to some element of modification being necessary in the transition from manga to anime. Sometimes it's pretty clumsy like in Dragonball, other times they change the scenes like in Attack On Titan (swallowed whole instead of ripped apart). In this case, less skin.

The creators of My Hero Academy anime went and de-chubby-fied one of the female characters.

If I was a fan, I'd probably still hold a grudge.

One of the reasons why I'm not an anime fan anymore: Too many reasons to be pissed off.

It's a good thing Koikatsu and CharaStudio exists. I can make my own anime now.

She was actually covered up pretty well already. And at least in the trailer it was more the first image. They might have released that second image to judge if they should animate her that way or even the bad publicity is publicity route. I'll wait to judge because the trailer doesn't show that second image too well.
