Anime Expo '18 Cosplay Photo Dump: Day 3 (Plus: whining)
By Pr0nShark2 • 5 years ago

In just about every convention experience, you hit a wall. Your costume hits critical failure, the exclusive release you had your heart set on sells out to the 8 year old ahead of you in line, some jerk reporter who didn't have to wait in line wins the one of a kind 5x autographed Dragon Pilot script after you waited for an hour in the 120* heat, you fight with your friends over money-- there is always something that you just didn't plan for that makes you go "Fuck this sorry-ass shit forever, I quit! Adventure is for suckers!" In my case, it was getting funneled away from the convention center and being forced to park several blocks behind the Staples Center, then losing track of which of the eighteen to thirty opportunistic, flim-flam parking lots that surround the convention center and sports-ball arena. I searched and asked and ran out my phone's battery searching Google Maps for over three hours searching for this lot, I even hired a cab to drive me around to look for this place to no avail--but I just didn't prepare until it was too late.

Sometimes, these things happen. There was no one to blame but me, I knew I should have made some note of where I was parked.

If you're really, really doing a convention right, it's inevitable. I have had an absolute blast covering this convention and I've been very lucky to have this opportunity. I hope that my work matters, in some way, to someone--I hope I'm doing a good job, but everything takes time and nobody has got it all figured out. I try to remind myself, when I'm taking lumps, that this is just the elbow swing of Karma drawing back her bow to deliver great rewards to me when I least expect them. I write to you tonight humbled, but unbroken.

Here are some much braver adventurers than I.

No, I will not be resisting.

Capsule Gang, Capsule Gang, Capsule Gang!

It's hammer time!

A bat for a bat--oh, damn! I just got that!

Pika-choose wisely.

Wakanda Forever!!!

I think I do believe in magic!

Deal. Me. In.

Guy in background does not know.

The Force is strong with these two...

This R2 was operated remotely and functioned flawlessly... amazing... just, wow. The guy in the Wookie shirt is controlling it.

Tinker Hell!

Glam-morah.

She walks in beauty, like the night.

Of cloudless climes and starry skies;

And all that's best of dark and bright

Meet in her aspect and her eye.

That's it for tonight.

See you, Space Cowboy.
