Who's Hype About Ranma 1/2 Remake?

Is it finally time to check out Ranma 1/2. An anime that many people loved back in the day, but some might think it hasn’t aged well in the animation department, so it’s not an old anime that is easy to recommend like Yu Yu Hakusho or Cowboy Bebop.

But now, people who missed out on a classic might finally be able to enjoy it, with a new Ranma 1/2 remake airing next season, if you haven’t already watched the leaks that is.

A lot of old classics have been getting the remake treatment, and it looks like Ranma 1/2 is next on the list. Some had success, and I’ve actually enjoyed them, like the Rurouni Kenshin remake. While others seem to not do as well, or grab the newer audience like some may have expected, like Spice and Wolf (actually, maybe I’m just the only one who didn’t enjoy the remake).

Kind of mid.

So this one might be a revival of the series, or a series that should have stayed buried in its old age. Some works of fiction are good no matter what day or age it’s in, while others are held back by the time period that influenced it. We’ll see which one Ranma 1/2 falls into.

Are you excited for the Ranma 1/2 remake? Did you want Ranma 1/2 back in the day? Are you enjoying the remake of Spice and Wolf? Tell us in the comments.

I can't wait for Twitter to rage and all the tourists saying that Ranma is trans and for Twitter to shit itself lol with people that never watched the series before.

I'm hyped but I already know some things won't fly compared to the manga/og version of the show.

I am simultaneously excited that it's coming back and terrified that they're gonna fuck it up. I guarantee you I'm not watching it dubbed though. It will be "localized" and I have 1000% faith that they -will- fuck that up.

Watched this in Mexico when I was younger (uncensored) and now I'm transgender..
The art style has lost some sauce but I just need anyone to watch this peak

Meh. I own all the original stuff. I'll stick with that. Anyone clueless about the series and wanting to superficially use it to represent transgender nonsense should be aware that Ranma's condition is due to a curse. Curses generally exist as a lingering grudge to punish indiscriminately or can be more focused to teach lessons in the harshest manner possible.

Looking forward to this coming back. Hope it's fun and brings back as many old dub actors as they can.

This was a childhood series I watched occasionally, ironically I was more into Inuyasha also by Rumiko. Will look into this.

I might see it again. I saw the original way back in the 1990's. I don't know what they will do different in the remake though. I'm hoping maybe for some new stories than just rehashing the old ones.

Ever since the Urusei Yatsura remake, I've been hoping for a Ranma 1/2 one. I'm hoping they fully adapt the manga, or at least the important parts of it, from start to finish.

I'm excited, but I do agree that I have a fear that trans people will try to co-opt the anime to be about them while simultaneously ignoring the fact that it has its own message about toxic masculinity. Sure it's a martial arts, romance, comedy first and foremost. The thing is every problem that Ranma has is because of the toxic masculinity of either his father or himself.
