This may not be the intended use for the upcoming holiday tomorrow, but by god I’m ready to take a moment to be grateful for the lewd ass shit I’ve seen in 2023. Looking through our article list it appears that I completely forgot to do any sort of Thanksgiving special last year. Not to give myself a pass but I can remember why. 2022 was personally one of the worst years, if not THE worst, of my entire life. And I really thought the COVID years were going to be unbeatable… Anyway I wanted to return to form in better spirits and show some appreciation for some specific attributes about the porn I consumed this year.

Raw Quality Increases

I think technological progress is best appreciated through a wide lens. Each year it seems like some new camera comes out that captures video a tiny bit better, or a microphone releases that absorbs a little more bass from a podcaster into the recording. But add all those up and over a long period the difference becomes obvious. I watched a ton of JAV content this year and let me just say… I’ve started to give up on watching any porn that came out before 2012 or so. The HD releases with crystal clear audio and video of today’s standards have spoiled me. Unless something just so happens to have a favorite kink or two of mine included, I’m okay to pass it up and wait for more current drops. Lord knows the JAV industry isn’t slowing down.

Rapid Response Porn

Over time, artists have learned that drawing trendy situations or characters garners more views than simply drawing some OC and posting it online. That same rule holds double or even triple for sexy pieces. The pipeline is simply ridiculous in terms of speed these days. A new character will be announced like Reina for Tekken 8, and days later (sometimes even hours) the internet will be flooded with a ton of lewd depictions of them. It’s awesome. There was a time where you had to imagine newly released characters naked in your head because there was no Twitter to immediately find porn of them hours later. Nowadays any character with some clout behind them will find themselves on the drawing board in no time. That’s at least one aspect of the always moving internet culture that's positive.

Independent Animators Glowing Up

I’ve been doing weekly articles over on our sister site Hentai0 for a bit, but just recently I’ve started doing a lot more spotlight pieces over there where I find an animation done by a smaller creator and talk about it. Hentai episodes are already released few and far between so I think it’s great to find other animated stuff to hold myself and other people over in the meantime. I have to say, I thought it would be a lot harder to find stuff worth sharing than it is. I basically log into Twitter, scroll for five minutes, and within that time period there’s probably some quality project that just got released and could use some extra attention. Perhaps I’ve been sleeping on the lewd work these animators do and the banging videos coming out on a weekly basis. This year I’ve certainly woken up.

Those are the main things (at least in the naughty category) that I’m thankful for this year.
