We all know that we can’t trust Netflix when it comes to live-action anime adaptation. They fucked up on Death Note, they fucked up on Cowboy Bebop, and now they’re going to fuck up on Yu Yu Hakusho. You can check out Yuag’s article on the Yu Yu Hakusho live-action adaptation announcement, in which they revealed two of the characters. Now I actually think Yusuke and Kurama look good, but they’ve recently revealed Kuwabara, and they did my man dirty.
Now let me be honest, they didn’t do Kuwabara dirty, they actually did him too good. Kurabara is supposed to be a goof ass looking bully, but my man is looking fly and sexy in this promotional picture. They first of all, fucked up the hair, it’s not orange or atleast brown, it’s more so like a white or silver color, which could just be the picture and all the effects around it making it that weird color. But it also looks like my man doesn’t have an old school pompadour, which isn’t that hard to put on a person. This version looks more modern and cool, which isn’t Kuwabara’s character. He’s supposed to be a loser bully who grows into a badass that we love.
Why they fucking up my boy.
It’s crazy how they kept Kurama's red long hair, and not Kuwabara’s orange pompadour. Usually it’s characters like Kurama who would have the biggest change, but I guess since he’s a demon and stuff, they’d be really fucking up his character if they change his hair color to something normal like black or brown. I’m not really sure what makes them make the decisions that they do. I always wonder if they’re actually any anime fans helping with these live-action projects. Can’t wait to see how bad they fuck up Hiei.
I was wrong. Netflix did a pretty good job on Hiei.
