Now people might call me sus for liking this show and being SUPER excited that a season 2 was announced for it, but I have to rep my show. And that show is the real “yuri on ice” that we’ve been waiting for, and a show I bet you didn’t watch last season just based on how it looked. And the show that I’m talking about is Medalist.
Now don’t let its first appearance fool you, this is not a loli bait show. This isn’t for the people who expect panty shots and upskirt gags. This is actually a really good sports anime, with some great drama and endearing characters. This show honestly blew my expectations out of the water, or should I say, ICE!!! Yeah…you get it…
I'm sorry for the bad joke.
If you’re someone who’s into a story that focuses more on the characters and their goals, then this is the show for you. Since the story is pretty much a run-of-the-mill sports anime about a person who wants to join a sport, seems lacking in the sport in some areas, but learns that they’re really good at one aspect with hard work, and dreams of being one of the best at the sport. But our little female lead, Inori, wants to go ice skating for the olympics. Well, I guess that’s pretty different. It’s not like her goal is small like trying to beat the inter high like other sports anime.
This shit hella sus.
A show that’s really good, but might get your friends questing why you’re watching a show about little girls in leotards. I’m so happy to see this get a season two, and I really hope that one day in the series we see a time skip of some kind. I would love to see Inori ice skate in high school, and as an adult. Seeing the progress in that fashion would be really nice and exciting in my opinion. And I'm excited to see what's up with season two.
Have you checked out Medalist? Do you think I’m sus for watching it? What’s your favorite sports anime? Tell us in the comments.
