The Switch 2 Is Charging $90 For Games?!

Well, I’m happy I was never the biggest Nintendo fan, cause with how much they’re trying to charge for the new Switch 2, and its games, they’re getting kind of out of…POCKET?!

That’s right, the Switch 2 cost $450 for just the system. And if you want a game with that, it’s going to cost you a hefty $80, and physical copies will cost you an extra $10, making physical copies $90. Like, when I was buying games for $60 and they just randomly started being $70, I was annoyed by that price increase. But, without giving us time to breathe, Nintendo thought to themselves, hey, let’s just up our games to $80 and $90. Like…WHAT THE FUCK!!!

And I’ll be honest, Nintendo games aren’t THAT good. I’m not going to spend $80 on the new Mario Kart, or fucking Donkey Kong. Hell, I would have to buy that $450 paper weight first, before I could even play one of its expensive games.

But, I don't want to roast the console completely. They do have a cool feature where you can have a game, and if your friend doesn’t have it, you can still play multiplayer with them. So if my homie has Mario Party, I can just not buy it, and enjoy the multiplayer side of it cause let’s be honest, who plays the Mario Party single player?

But at this point, the Switch 2 is looking like a no buy for me. The only Nintendo game I care about is Fire Emblem and maybe Smash Bros, but I don’t think just those two games justify me spending on a $450 brick, and then spending an extra $160 for two games. And I’m really praying other companies don’t start trying to adopt this $80-$90 price raise. We’ll see how this gamble actually works out for them, maybe they’ll get a lot of sales from the desperate Bloodborne fans needing to buy it to play the fake Bloodborne game The Duskbloods.

What do you think about the Switch 2? What do you think of the $80 - $90 price raise? Are you getting a Switch 2? Tell us in the comments.

Eh. Starfox 64 was 80$. It's fine to pay 90$ for a game if you're gonna spend 90 hours in the game. For some titles that's unreasonably long. For Mario Kart, the new Donkey Kong, and Bloodborne2, it's probably reasonable.

Inflation hits hard. Voting for Republicans has consequences.

Looking at recent events theres a very good chance a recession will happen and make this price threshold even worse lol

And it's still the cheapest of the consoles out right now.

It's also possible the physical copies are a scam too; you're still digitally downloading games. The cartridges are an illusion.

They were 110$ when I was kid.
And with inflation that would mean they were hella expensive.

As much as I hate to see prices go up, the cost of buying games has not kept up with the cost of making them. I would honestly rather pay $90 for a full game than have the company try to nickel and dime me with an incomplete game and a bunch of DLC that should have been included from the start.

I was considering getting it but the battery life is expected to be only hours! Nah, son
Edit: I moved the upper limit to hours based on estiimates for retro games. Idk how long the battery lasts on standby.

$80-90 price raise? Huh? Sega hit that back in the 90s. (Panzer Dragoon Saga was originally $80-90, as was Burning Rangers at original release.) As did MS with the original brick XBox. ($400-600 for original Steel Battalion. The 'Deluxe' set was $750-800 if I remember correctly. For physical game and custom controller.) And NeoGeo used to charge $120-180. -Arguably, they WERE basically selling Arcade Boards as Carts.

Remember when they once won E3 big time by unveiling actual games instead of telling gamers to accept rehashes and shallow political dribble? For me personally the sign was when they locked 70% of the Ezio AC trilogy behind their store while the PS4, Xbox One and PC versions did not with all three games being playable off the bat. This is what gaming has 'peaked' to.
