To say that Rumiko Takahashi is a legend is to say that maybe Richard Epcar is an okay voice actor. Takahashi is beyond a legend. She's been in the manga and anime industry for decades, and worked on some of the most famous works around. Her name is spoken in the same sentence as Osamu Tezuka, and he's known as the 'god of manga'. But okay, enough hyping up a goddess of manga. Why bring her up today? Well, she's adding a new series to her long list of legendary works. Joining Ranma 1/2, Inuyasha, Urusei Yatsura, and many others is a new manga series set to launch May 8th.

With a working title known as 'Mao', we have little to go on here. Many people are thinking Inuyasha when they see the name and the protagonist. We have a working title as a brief summary: “a strange romance between a boy and girl who meet by fate.”

Inuyasha was my gateway anime, the one that really got me started on the journey. Ranma was the next one of hers I eventually read, then Urusei Yatsura, and Maison Ikkoku. Each one was one hell of a journey. Rinne or good start but became the same story every chapter. I hope this one is better.

This sounds interesting. Practically grew up with Inuyasha and Ranma 1/2, nice to know there will be more of her unique style and story telling.

Ooooh. Thanks for the heads up!

I gotta wonder, though, does Go Nagai get as much respect as Rumiko Takahashi does? I'm genuinely curious.

whoaaa! This is cool. My sister was the biggest fan of Inuyasha back in the day. I never got into it because I remember reading a chapter that I thought was pretty scary and I never picked it up again. Of course, fast forward to the present, and I'm now reading stuff waaaay more messed up than Inuyasha.

Thank you for the article. I'll let my sister know (but I won't tell her where I read this).
