Revenge Rape Anime Moves Forward With Production
By WakeUpSnooze • 3 years ago

Oh boy oh boy oh boy. Even with the world ending and production everywhere slowing down thanks to COVID, it looks like we can all rest easy as Kaifuku Jutsushi no Yarinaoshi: Sokushi Mahō to Skill Copy no Chōetsu Heal (Redo of Healer) is moving ahead in its release. The official website recently released new details and information. First, the series is set to come out in 2021. An exact month doesn’t seem to be established. Second, the main cast seiyuu have been revealed as well. This teaser reminded me that this shit was still coming out in the first place, and brought up two things I wanted to discuss in this article.

First, who wants to guess how much they’re going to cut out? This light novel series seems to be known for its dark, graphic, and intensely sexual content. Obviously you can’t say shit like that and not expect me to pick up the anime immediately, but how much will the studio do to actually display those moments? Will they be cut out completely or censored? My guess is they will take the Goblin Slayer approach. In Goblin Slayer, that early rape scene sent everyone into a frenzy and a ton of SJWs called for the anime’s cancellation. Of course Japan doesn’t give a shit, so that didn’t work. Plus, while there was a rape scene, it wasn’t very graphic. The girl had her clothes ripped off, and then the camera pans away to the cave and nothing is shown. This kept it from feeling like I was watching almost a straight up hentai like Ishuzoku Reviewers. Depending on just how depraved some of these scenes are supposed to be, I could see the studio deciding to use the cut away technique to still show that it happened, but not display the details. To be honest though, with a series like this that’s KNOWN for fucked up shit, I’m hoping they do in fact go the Ishuzoku route and go nuts with it.

Yes, more hot shit like this please.

Second, I always wonder about voice acting culture in Japan vs. America. In America, we have a pretty strict line for VAs. You’re either a professional, big VA who only does SFW content and wouldn’t touch something like this, or you’re a NSFW VA and sort of known for that. Obviously there are some exceptions here and there, but I’m talking about the big picture. I can’t ever imagine a Laura Bailey or Yuri Lowenthal lending their voices to a porn. Officially that is. A lot of times when voicing for lewd shit, American VAs use an alias or ask to be unlisted altogether. Now my question is, is Japan the same? I’ve heard that there are often times when the VAs in a hentai go unlisted, but at the same time you got shit like Ishuzoku Reviewers which is basically hentai if you watch the uncensored version and the names of those VAs are listed loud and proud. In fact the actress for Crim is even in the new Kaguya Sama season as Miko. A bit confused by the contradicting evidence, I also looked up the actors listed for Redo of Healer, and they seem to be legitimate names. I wonder if that’s any indication that the studio won’t go too crazy as this will be going on the VA’s records.

You know it's going to be crazy when you see the patented sicko face.

How dark do you think the studio will be willing to go? Would you use your true name as a NSFW VA? Will you be watching the adaptation? Harshly beat your keyboard in order to type a depraved comment below!
