Well, well, well, I’d say how the tables turn but instead this is pretty much the company doubling down on their aforementioned game plan and following through with it. In case you missed previous articles about the topic, OnlyFans announced a few months ago that it wants to move away from its porn-filled image and try to become a place more suitable for a wider variety of users and to become more appealing to investors (and judging from this new release, make their banking partners happy which I didn’t know at the time). Basically a very similar strategy that Tumblr undertook of toning down the porn content on its site. And we all know that worked out very well and Tumblr has become a bastion of thriving content these days. So if you plan to remake your entire site’s image, how do you go about it? In the most confusing and muddy way possible of course. Read the press statement below in order to see what I’m talking about.
Okay so the first point of confusion is that apparently this was a press statement sent to some outlets/people on Twitter and not posted on a webpage for everyone to see. Immediately this caused a bit of hesitation on the users’ and my own part cause like, what if it was fake? However at this point of writing multiple places seem to be confirming that they received the same press statement. Then again it does say more details will follow in the coming days so perhaps I’m simply a bit early. Well god damn that’s good because we are in dire need of some details right about now. Reading the statement it says that “sexually-explicit conduct” will be prohibited, however nude content will be okay. What? What does that mean? Conduct implies more of an action, so I assume you can take nude photos of yourself but can’t put up content where you’re getting fucked raw. But what about a nude girl dancing? Is that explicit enough conduct or is that safe cause it’s mostly just nudity in motion? What about sucking a lollipop while nude? That’s some lewd conduct but nothing too serious. Users have already started complaining that with this current distinction, OnlyFans will have to build a team of Porn Police that review and figure out what’s acceptable and what’s not. Maybe we’ll receive more clarifying details in the near future, but holy moly this is an awful start.

Assuming the future explanatory details actually do something to eliminate the confusion and avoid the platform becoming a hellscape like Twitch where nobody understands what the guidelines are cause they’re shit and aren’t enforced equally, will it even matter? Even if this gets sorted out, are users still going to come visit the site knowing that the amount of porn content has been drastically reduced and limited? Sure seeing custom and private content made by celebrities is cool and all, but we have Cameo for that. Who is going to stick around for a good Christian OnlyFans platform? I’d hypothesize very few users. So much for people being able to create porn without the dangers of studios and the like.
On the bright side, none of this situation affects our beautiful 2D girls who will remain unreal and unbothered by this move. The doujin supply stays uninterrupted my friends. And plus I don’t use, and don’t know anyone who uses OnlyFans.
