i've seen leaks and rumors appearing on Twitter lately but now it's been confirmed: Nier Automata is getting the anime treatment!

During a livestream celebrating the game's fifth anniversary, a characteristically stylish yet cryptic teaser trailer cropped up announcing that an anime series was in production at Fullmetal Alchemist studio Aniplex.

"The stage is a far future where humanity is defeated by the moon in front of the overwhelming force of 'mechanical life forms'....” reads the Japanese text, which may point toward the anime being a straightforward retelling of the game's events. Well, "straightforward" and Yoko Taro don't always go hand in hand, so we'll see how that turns out.
