Netflix Teams with Production I.G, Bones & Wit Studio
By Kasaix • 6 years ago

Netflix rocked the anime world when it released Castlevania on July 7, 2017, an incredible anime based on a classic game series, with a second season announced. This is an anime series Netflix made itself, not just another show it streamed that was already made, and it received an 85% on Rotten Tomatoes.

They followed up with another series based on Go Nagai's manga series DEVILMAN crybaby on January 5, 2018, which received an 80%.

Currently, they have numerous other series planned for release, such as B: The Beginning, A.I.C.O. -Incarnation-, Sword Gai: The Animation, Lost Song, and Aggretsuko.

There were those who were more than a bit hesitant with an American-made anime, and both series has their detractors. So when it was announced that Netflix was teaming up with Production I.G., Bones and Wit Studio to make anime, minds were blown. These are legendary anime studios partnering with Netflix to make anime. There is hope that Netflix will not wrest control over the anime they "co-produce" and make a bunch of incredible-looking terrible shows. These series will be shown in 190 countries, and Netflix is optimistic of the whole thing. There are skeptics, of course, with people hoping Netflix won't just control the whole thing.

The whole announcement can be found HERE, but it's all in Japanese. What do you think of the announcement? Are you optimistic about Netflix teaming with these anime studios to create more series, or are you filled with dread at what Netflix is going to unleash? Tell us in the comments below.
