Man, people are really hating Chainsaw Man…well, not Chainsaw Man specifically, people are loving the show. But what people are really hating is the girl that everyone, even Denji, simps for, and that’s Makima.

A woman who has everyone wrapped around her fingers, us the viewers, and the characters within the show. She might be harsh at times and a complete savage with some of the things she says, but that’s what’s so interesting about her. Even with her calling people dogs, and a “don’t talk back to me” attitude, I’m still so into her. But, pick up how I said she has us viewers wrapped around her fingers. People who have dived deeper into the manga and went ahead of us have dropped their simping for Makima lifestyle and have regretted their decision. So much so that cosplayers regret cosplaying the characters, and artists have put wip drawing of her on indefinite hiatus.

A Youtuber named ChibiReviews had to make a whole video about how the Chainsaw Man fandom started sending him hate and death treats for making a Denji x Makima joke.



So yeah, Makima is definitely seeming like one of the most hated female characters in anime at the moment, but, for us anime only watchers, we don’t know specifically why at this point. But the thing about Makima is, even though it seems like many hate her, people still can’t help but like her. And I feel like that’s the sign of a great character. She is not a, “I hate her because she’s written poorly” it’s a, “I hate her for making me feel conflicted for liking her”. Makima is just another reason why Chainsaw Man is considered such a good series.
