Let's Talk About Removing Scenes From Manga to Anime
By ImJustThatKinky • 5 years ago

People as of recent have been praising the Boku no Hero anime for adapting the manga perfectly and improving on it by adding things to a scene that weren’t there in the manga in the beginning. As someone who is also watching Boku no Hero with my friend Imaginary, I can agree that Studio Bones is doing an amazing job with the anime and I can’t get enough of it. The only complaint that I have against the anime is that it’s to short, Studio Bones need to up the anime to an hour instead of that cock tease of a 30 minutes, but I digress. It’s a fact that when a manga is being adapted into an anime that fans of that series usual want a 100% re adaption. But sometimes you don’t get things like Boku no Hero, sometimes you get shows like Dorei Ku, who cut out things from the manga. But is that such a bad thing?

Before watching Dorei Ku the Animation I’ve never read the manga, so everything I saw was new to me. But after watching the first episode I was interest to see how the manga was, since more adult feeling shows like Dorei Ku usual do cut things out. So when I checked it out, this is what I found.

So the first thing I want to talk about is the one thing that I think they improved on and that’s the rape scene. NOW HOLD ON! I’m not talking about the actual rape, I’m talking about the way they present the scene of the car rape. Before that scene the main female character had a conversation with the main male character about meeting him somewhere since she won their little bet. While walking main girl’s friend said how she believe that main boy is trying to make a move on her, which then transition to the car rape scene. This was well directed in making the viewer think that the friend was right and that the two were now fucking in the car but you soon find out that those were two different situation after they then transition to main boy and main girl in a cute goose boat. In the manga these two scenes where separated by two chapters instead of together, so praise to them.

Now for the things they cut. Lucie, the brown haired girl that got raped in the car by the fat guy got it a lot worst in the manga than in the anime. The fat rapist also got it a lot worst. In the anime Luice was only raped by the fat guy in the car. But in the manga, after Lucie got raped, she was then throw out of the car and soon after gang raped by a group of guys just passing by.

Now that is some fucked and kinda unbelievable stuff. But the cuts don’t end there. When it comes to Lucie’s revenge, in the anime she just made the guy punch himself repeatedly, which in all rights looked like it fucking hurts! But it’s nothing compared to what she made him do in the manga. Not only did he still have to punch himself in the face, Lucie ordered him to got out driving to find the guys that gang raped her. They find one of them and tied him up and threw him in the back of the car. You know what happened next? Lucie order the fat guy to suck the guy’s dick! Talk about getting revenge.

It never pays to be a rapist kids.

But even though Dorei Ku the Animation cut these two scenes out of the anime, is that an actual bad thing. Yea sure we missed some content but the content we missed isn’t anything that destroys the story, not from what I can tell as of yet. Those scene were only filler to drag on the event longer, it didn’t add anything more to the overall plot. I feel like cutting out scene like these are okay because it gives people a reason to pick up the manga. If they’re not cutting out plot important stuff.,I think it’s okay to do something like this (I’m look at you Tokyo Ghoul: RE).

What do you think about cutting scene? Do you agree with me? Are you watching Dorei Ku? Tell us in the comments below.
