Chainsaw Man Continues Movie Trend With Reze Arc
By WakeUpSnooze • 4 months ago

You know, given the success of the Demon Slayer movie, I figured other shounen would take notice and incorporate the technique. However, I never knew that the blending of TV format anime with anime movies would take over so quickly. Chainsaw Man has now joined the party with a recent announcement from the Jump Festa event. A trailer was released to advertise the upcoming film Chainsaw Man-The Movie: Reze Arc. Given how I’ve never read the manga and yet I’ve still heard the name Reze before, I can only assume she has a massive impact on the story. Obviously the director and associated production staff thought so. You can peep the trailer below:

It used to be that anime movies were reserved for filler or original arcs. That way diehard fans could go see the extra content in a theatrical setting whereas the casual fans could stay home and continue watching the anime on TV without fear of missing out on essential context or plot/character developments. That time is dead in the water I’m afraid boys. Demon Slayer at least later went back and converted the movie to a standard episodic format. Jujutsu Kaisen on the other hand? You’ll miss so much additional information about certain happenings and characters if you don’t watch the movie. And there’s no substitute that I know of outside of reading the manga. With these canon movies on the rise, how are we feeling? Is it awesome that so many series are getting popular enough to warrant theater screenings, or does it suck to have to watch an anime in two formats? Personally if everyone followed the Demon Slayer train of releasing a movie first and then converting it into a season or OVA of anime later so that anime fans don’t HAVE to head to the theater I’d have no issues. It’s situations where an anime starts, then a canon movie is released, and there’s no alternative but missing out that grinds my gears.

Either way I suppose I’ll be dragging my ass to a theater seat once this movie debuts, because there's no way I plan on skipping it. This Reze girl is too popular to ignore (not to mention probably insanely lewdable from the promotional art). On the bright side at least it gets anime fans out of the house for a few hours. Did you watch the first season of Chainsaw Man? Are you planning on watching this movie? Do you think this trend is getting out of hand? Rev your chainsaws, avoid being crushed by Makima’s ass, and prepare for the Reze Arc ticket hunt in the comments below!
