An Interview with Kushishekku
By Kasaix • 4 years ago

Kasaix: Hello Doujin Army! I’d like to introduce you all to a really cool artist, the one and only Kushishekku. I’ve been following their work for some time, and I’m glad to be able to chat with them. The art is solid, proper lighting and shading, and the girls are all cute and sexy. There’s a great genderbent Jason picture that proves it all.

But I’m getting ahead of myself. Thanks for taking the time to hang out. How’s it going, Kushishekku?

Kushishekku: I'm doing fine, thank you.

Kasaix: Nice. Let’s start at the top, could you tell me how you first got into art?

Kushishekku: I just always liked doodling things when I was younger, so I ended up taking classes on it, and people around me thought it was good so decided to stick with it. At a later point I just realised "I can draw so I might as well draw things based on shows and games I like." And eventually I thought "Hey I can draw smut of characters I like that don't have enough content for". And just been chipping away at it since, and obviously eventually started posting it online once I had the means of doing digital art.

Kasaix: Hahah I like that. You saw you were so good at art that you could make smut. You’re brilliant.

What are your favorite characters and themes to draw?

Kushishekku: Out of all the times I drew them, probably either Megumin or Himiko Toga, though also fond of drawing my OCs (which I need to do more of honestly). With themes, I really like doing stuff with size difference, doesn't matter if it's girl x monster or just girl x a big guy or short girl x tall girl, I like it nonetheless. And in more general terms I just like having the characters enjoy the fucking, even in dubcon situations.

Kasaix: I like size difference too, and I definitely like it when the characters are all consenting.

Do you have character backgrounds for your OCs?

Kushishekku: I do have them, right now I'm in the middle of overhauling them and actually writing up character sheets that are up to date. Which hopefully I can get those done soon so I can show them off properly.

Kasaix: Nice. I can’t wait to see that. Do you have a mascot character out of those OCs?

Kushishekku: Yep, it's my girl Kori. Thats why shes my twitter/patreon pfp and is the first one to get the updated character sheet.

Kasaix: I like her.

Where do you get the inspiration for all your projects?

Kushishekku: Mostly source material whatever the character I do is from or just getting a sudden idea either out of nowhere or out of a conversation with someone.

Kasaix: I like it when inspiration strikes out from nowhere too.

How long does it typically take you to finish a project?

Kushishekku: Sometimes I get things done in 2 days, sometimes I end up working on and off on something for months. For example the Tomoko Kuroki image I've recently done, that one I started really early in the year and only just managed to finish it recently.

Kasaix: Well, you can’t rush art. I like that Tomoko image too. Nice work on it.

What do you feel is your best picture yet, and why?

Kushishekku: Probably either the genderbent Jason or the Ann Takamaki pic. With both of them I'm really satisfied with how I managed to do the lighting on them. Though I'd also put the Rem & Ram pic from a couple months back as a runner up, thought I did well on their expressions.

Kasaix: I like the genderbent Jason too. The lighting really is good, and it strikes that mix of scary and sexy. I don’t recall the Rem & Ram pic, but I’ll have fun searching for it. I ran into a girl doing a handstand while half naked, so that’s the kind of fun one has going through your works.

Is there a project you'd really like to work on in the future?

Kushishekku: Well, I'd really want to have enough time to get a doujin project finished, I have one in the barely started phase, plus like 10 different ideas for doujins. Another could be doing a H-Game perhaps but that one would require even more work, especially if don't go for something easy like a VN or RPG Maker game.

Kasaix: I’d love to see a doujin project or a game from you. That sounds so cool!

What setup do you use to draw?

Kushishekku: I still use the same thing I used when I started, so a Ugee M708 (pretty solid for a budget tablet, still going strong after almost 5 years of use) and Photoshop.

Kasaix: Nice setup.

Where does your username come from?

Kushishekku: I needed a separate username from my private one, and I saw one of those things that just show how your name could be spelled when written in japanese, so I just used that

Kasaix: Neat. Let’s wrap it up here for now. Do you have any final words to all your fans?

Kushishekku: Outside of the usual Patreon plug, let me say thanks to my followers for somehow sticking with my stuff, especially the people that have been there since before I started to get decent at this whole art thing.
