Why Is Japan Feeling Towards Sibling So Strong?
By ImJustThatKinky • 2 years ago

Platinum End doesn’t have the well written story and characters that we expected from something created by the same minds behind Death Note, but I’m still watching in hope of something actually thought provoking or interesting popping up. Well, after 13 episodes in, I might have found something that provoked my thoughts, and that’s why it seems like Japanese people might have a sister complex.

Sorry man, but I don't.

The subject of sisters or siblings in general can be seen alot as a theme or just a side thing in anime. Family relationships aren't a new thing in any kind of media. But I feel like in Japanese media, it’s played up to the extreme, even when it’s supposed to be just in a platonic kind of way, like Tanjiro and Nezuko.

Okay guys, that's alittle too close.

Now with Platinum End, I’m not sure if they were trying to go for a strong platonic relationship, or just a psycho brother that wanted to fuck his sister. But it was over the top. Strong sibling relationships and emotion are shown off in anime to the point of siblings being romantically into each other, it’s even played for jokes sometimes. Even shows that aren’t romance focus or sibling relationship focus, will have incestal vibes and hints, such as SAO.

DIDN'T I SAY TOO CLOSE!!!

Now they try to play this off sometimes by making the siblings step siblings, but we all know what they actually want. So I’m just wondering why? Why is Japan so into sibling relationships? I thought that was supposed to be Alabama’s thing? I guess they all be fucking their brothers and sisters in Japan like it’s okay. Well…if I had a cousin that looked like Kirito’s cousin, I guess I wouldn’t be able to help myself too.

Why do you think strong sibling relationships is a big thing in anime? Do you think sibling relationships can be weird a lot of times in anime? Are you watching Platinum End? Tell us in the comments.
