Which Spidey Girl Is Your Favorite?
By WakeUpSnooze • 6 months ago

Spider-Man 2 came out a few days ago, and everyone on the entire Internet has taken the opportunity to suck its dick harder and faster than the first game’s debut. Jealous? What? No of course not, I’m not realizing at all that perhaps putting this game on my Christmas list was a mistake as us plebs who haven’t picked it up yet are dodging through hoops hourly to avoid spoilers and gameplay impressions. God help me if I can make it to December without knowing the entire main plotline. Anyway, with the Spidey craze popping off in full swing, I wanted to take this moment to put the spotlight on the girls of the series.

I wanted to double check myself and do some research beforehand on the prominent girls of the Spider-Man comics, and while each website had a slightly different list, I found three characters that pretty much everyone universally agreed on as being incredibly important: Mary Jane Watson, Gwen Stacy, and Felicia Hardy. Obviously everyone knows Mary Jane, I mean that’s one of the most popular superhero romances of all time. However, I think her popularity is dying in recent times as she is depicted as a pretty basic woman in most of the stuff I’ve seen. She can be cute and loyal sure. The redheads certainly claim her. But in terms of waifu material… I’ll pass. Now in my younger years Gwen wouldn’t even be on my radar. Going off the original story she doesn’t have much to do and she’s not nearly as badass as the current Spider-Gwen iterations have molded her to be. The amount of Gwen lewd cosplay and porn speaks for itself.

Alright hear me out guys… even with all the stability of Mary Jane and the coolness of modern Gwen, I’m still a damn Black Cat simp. I know, it’s a problem. Felicia Hardy has long been thought of by many as a Catwoman ripoff, and considering Catwoman was introduced first and how similar their overall designs and functionalities in their respective series are, I can totally understand the concern. But fellas it’s just something about that dangerous outfit and snarky attitude that captures my attention. I remember you had the option to romance Black Cat back in Spider-Man: Web of Shadows, and that girl single-handedly ruined my “good guy Spidey” playthrough of the game. I smacked that romance button as fast as my spider reflexes would allow. From what I read Black Cat will never be a viable romance option for our neighborhood hero because she is intrigued by the chaos of the man living as Spider-Man, but doesn’t give much of a shit about Peter Parker. Sorry to hear that, but hey I can be chaotic! We’ll rob a bank or something girl I promise.

I always feel a little sad when an American series has some hotties because I know that means the chances of doujins being created for it are almost nil. Thankfully there are still plenty of artists and animators who take up the mantle over here and I expect my timeline to be filled with them as the game’s impact is felt across the web. Are you excited for Spider-Man 2? Which prominent girl is your favorite? What other games are on your radar? Swing through the city, combo goons with Miles, and save your girl from the Goblin this time in the comments below!
